Terms of Use
By using SafeCape, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Safety information, not emergency response
Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity performed through it. Provide accurate information and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
Community reports
Submit only information you reasonably believe is accurate and relevant to public safety. Describe observable facts. Do not name, identify, threaten, harass or accuse private individuals; publish private personal information; impersonate others; submit discriminatory content; interfere with investigations; or knowingly submit false, misleading, duplicated or unlawful reports.
Moderation
SafeCape may hold, group, edit for clarity, verify, reject, remove or preserve reports. Automated corroboration is a confidence signal, not proof. We may restrict accounts or devices used for abuse. We do not promise that every report will be reviewed or published.
Third-party information
Maps, traffic information, official notices, news and public-source links come from third parties. Attribution does not mean endorsement. Third-party information may be delayed, incomplete or changed at its source.
Permitted use
You may use SafeCape for lawful personal and community-safety purposes. You may not scrape or resell the service, bypass access controls, probe security, overload systems, reverse engineer protected components or use SafeCape to target, discriminate against or profile individuals unlawfully.
Disclaimer and liability
SafeCape is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, availability and fitness for a particular purpose. You remain responsible for your own safety decisions. SafeCape is not liable for decisions made solely from an alert, risk score, map or absence of a report.
Changes and termination
We may change, suspend or discontinue features and update these terms as the service develops. Continued use after revised terms are published means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply. Questions may be sent to accounts@safecape.co.za. See the Privacy Policy for information-handling details.
